It truly is the most wonderful time of the year when you remind your heart of the reason for the season. There has been a lot of dark, a lot of hard in 2020, but He is good and we are grateful that He handpicked a lot of joy for our family this year.
To get in the holiday spirit, last weekend our little family of four had a staycation at Gaylord Rockies. Nick and I stayed there just the two of us last time (you can read about that here), so it was a real treat to bring the boys this time.
Gaylord Rockies is having their huge So Much Christmas event right now, which is a gift considering the state of the world. The hotel was granted variances to remain open, meaning they can successfully abide by all of the mandated guidelines.
I Love Christmas Movies
This was such a treat! I will be honest and say it was also challenging with Atlas (we should’ve brought his seat for the stroller and didn’t). Maybe if you have a tame toddler who doesn’t want to run and touch everything, or have them in a stroller, it would work. Also, be prepared to wait. Even though you have a start time for your ticket, the line took us about 45 minutes to go through.
Brunch with Charlie Brown and Friends
Atlas enjoyed this brunch so much, and so did we because the food options were endless! Pancakes, waffles, fruit, omelette station, sweet treats, chicken fingers, eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes, coffee…. basically anything you could want. Charlie Brown and the other characters danced at their little stations and Atlas couldn’t take his eyes off of them.
Ginderbread Decorating
We got to decorate gingerbread cookies, meanwhile Atlas ate them. Below is a picture of my best efforts, but hey, we had fun doing it!
We spent time by the pool, which is first come first serve due to limited capacity. We went around 9 AM and had no issues getting right in. The splash pad is so great for kiddos, and the pools are all heated, so it was enjoyable for people like me who hate the cold!
We also walked the LIGHTS! display which was absolutely stunning. There was so much more to do, like ice skating and tubing, but Atlas was still a little too small.
Our room was the perfect setup and right amount of spaciousness for the four of us. There was a wall to break up the room, so Atlas was able to nap/sleep in the ‘living room’ space uninterrupted. It was a mountainview room with the prettiest views… okay, now I’m ready to go back!
This resort truly is one of a kind, especially around Christmas time. It is our favorite place to Staycation in Denver, whether its just us as a couple, or a family getaway! Also – the staff! They are truly one of a kind. We had the best customer service the entire weekend, and it did not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
Thanks for having us Gaylord Rockies, we will be back soon!
