Nick and I realized we hadn’t spent a weekend alone together since December! if I’m being honest, it’s always SO hard for me to set aside ‘me’ time or time for just us as a couple. even though we’ve left Atlas Ford overnight before, I still cringe at the thought of it. maybe a part of me always will. but uncomfortable or not, I know how important alone time is. so we decided to have a little staycation at Gaylord Rockies!
it’s never fun dropping our boy off, it’s actually brutal, but my heart was also doing cartwheels for some quality time with my person. it also helps that i had peace of mind knowing he was going to have fun in Colorado Springs with his grandparents!
Nick and I arrived at Gaylord Rockies and were in awe. it truly is a magical place, and that becomes very apparent the second you step through the doors. we unpacked our things in the room and admired the stunning views of the rockie mountains from the window. it felt so nice to pause in the moment, and not plan around nap time or worry about diaper changes or a feeding!
after we relaxed in our room for a little while, we got ready and walked around the hotel before dinner. the entire hotel is so cozy and warm – every detail of this place makes you feel like you’re right at home in the wilderness.
we had dinner at Vista Montagne. we never eat italian, even though we love it, and this spot did not disappoint! we started off with an appetizer, our entrees, and dessert. i don’t do big meals like that often, but it was well worth it.
during our stay we spent a majority of our time relaxing by the pool together. we soaked up the sun, enjoyed a couple drinks, talked about what we’re grateful for and our goals for the future. it felt so special to just kick our feet up and connect like we hadn’t in awhile.
there was an outdoor and indoor pool, as well as a great splash pad for the littles (yes, already dreaming of going back and bringing Atlas Ford!). there is a bar that connects to both the indoor and outdoor pools. it serves alcohol and small bites to eat, which was super convenient for two people who love to snack!
here are some more pictures from our stay. the only thing we didn’t find time to do was go to the spa, but it is on my list for next time! Nick and i both would highly recommend staying at Gaylord Rockies, whether you’re local or visiting Colorado. it is the perfect place with kiddos or without! we truly had the best time reconnecting with each other.
thanks for having us Gaylord Rockies!
